Jennifer Constance (JC) Brainerd--Born in Loveland, Colorado September 26, 1955, graduated from High School in 1973 and attended University of Colorado-Boulder through an Air Force ROTC scholarship. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering in 1977.
Her brother James pulled her into the SCA, and she became an active member, learning to fight, brew mead, and embroider, medieval style. They worked together in their uncle’s shop to build armor (and sold some to fund their tourney expenses while they were in college). She squired with Sir Steingrim Torvaldssen, earning her white belt in 1977.
Post-graduation JC was stationed for two years at Cheyenne Mountain, then at Edwards Air Force base to work on the infrastructure needed for the space shuttle. She earned the rank of O-3 and was selected for Major when she was recruited for the Morrow Project in early 1983. She finished training in March of 1984, and frozen in April 1984. While in training she recommended that the Project recruit her brother (James, of Engineer Team E-4).
