A large, modern oil tanker. The bridge and officers' quarters are located midships; the engines, and non-officer crew, are located near the stern.

 

Length 523' 6", beam 68", draft 29' 11" fully loaded; displacement 21,880 tons fully loaded.

Steam turbine of 6000 HP powering an electric generator; electric motor in turn drives a single propellor. Top speed, 15 knots, cruising speed 14 knots, range 12,500 miles.

Nine oil tanks hold a total of 6 million gallons (141,200 barrels) of cargo; a 15,200 cubic foot dry cargo hold is located near the bow, also.

Crew:  captain, 3 deck officers, 5 engineer officers, radio officer, 11 seamen, 10 engineroom crew, 8 steward's deparment = 39 total
