double-barrel double-action (or double-trigger double-hammer) pistols, intended for emergency use against dangerous game. Made by Purdey, Lancaster, Holland and Holland, other big-game rifle makers, but no longer in production, replaced by modern handguns. Only the largest caliber described here might be of interest to adventurers; they were also available as four-barrel weapons (but not in this huge caliber). Has a set trigger.
