Body text is from "The Monthly Army List for December, 1933", pub. by the War Office; and the regimental Chronicle for 1931 (pub. early 1932). Officers whose names are in italics are supernumerary, or are seconded away from the regiment. If there is a number in square after the name, that indicates they are attached, but not posted, to that battalion.

The Regimental association, and the Chronicle, are both in a nice, but small, house on Eccleston Square; the compiler and editor is Major H. G. Parkyn, O.B.E. -- his home, perhaps? In 1931 the Regimental Dinner was held in June, at the Trocadero Restaurant in London; H.R.H. The Duke of Connaught presided over 133 guests.

The Chronicle includes sections on the year's activities by the sergeants and corporals -- it's not just the doings of officers. Majors and even captains are often in command of the two battalions.

The battalion serving during 1931 at Jullundur in India seems to have been quite busy with every conceivable sport, and a few military activities, too. They were sent out to support the police in various towns during a Muslim vs. Hindu disturbance for a couple of weeks, and made a two-week "Flag March" through districts of the Punjab that no British troops had ever visited -- and no Indian Army ones for at least 20 years.

The battalion in England mostly noted the weather -- lots and lots of rain. "No great enthusiasm is expressed about the hunting in Devonshire, but many of us have been out regularly with the Dartmoor, the Lamerton and the St. Budeaux Foxhounds, and we did quite a lot of racing." Some of the junior officers did a lot of sailing, and all ranks were engaged in football, hockey, cricket, golf, tennis and boxing.

Staff College, at Camberley, is a common posting for younger officers. The "Depot" at Winchester is mostly concerned with training new recruits for the regiment. As of 1 January 1932 the Regiment has 1,544 men (not including officers).
