Located 400 light-years from Terra is an ordinary yellow star. A fairly Earth-like world orbits that star, accompanied by a trio of small moons.

The planet has a diameter of 11,200 kilometers, and a surface gravity of 0.9 G. The environmental conditions are mild, and very habitable by humans. Small ice-caps cover the polar land-masses; an equatorial ocean divides the planet into North and South Continents.

Many hundreds of millions of humans and ara-humans live here, along with a few million members of alien races. The planet is divided into a couple thousand self-governing regions, ranging from one encompassing half of South Continent to tiny estates of a single village. The Principality controls or provides some services -- the post, planetary defense, customs enforcement at the starports, and orbital services.

The many self-governing regions are ruled by a large variety of governments, but most commonly as autocracies -- regions owned by Sirian nobility, whose titles originate from the Principality.

Some of the areas, especially near the equator, are heavily industrialized; Borotin is an important world in the ecomony of the Principality.

One very large orbital station, and dozens of smaller ones, act as starship docks, resorts, manufacturing centers, etc. Several orbital tethers rise from the planet's equator to some of the stations. Defense installations are present on the moon, and floating covertly elsewhere in the system, along with nav beacons and small gunship platforms.
