back to Weight Of Water - 1

After a grim day and night (or so they surmise, they're underground) of destroying the Rajan poisons, our Heroes set forth (about the 17th of Talislandre) along the tunnels leading away from Lake Zephyr. Partway through their two day Stygian journey, they come upon and destroy (largely through some amusing good luck) a Rajan Nihilist temple. Their appreciation of Mord's capabilities (or at least those of his equipment) increases.

20 Talislandre, 621 NA

Coming out through an old iron mine, the characters find themselves in a valley surrounded entirely by steep sides; iron smelters, slave pens, a Rajan camp, and a Mangar carrack (converted to a windship!) are easily visible. Hordes of Rajan and Vird warriors swagger about, abusing slaves of many races. A slave, Detonar, is liberated by the party, and provides much useful information about the mine. The "Grand Vizier", a highly-ranked Rajan, seems to be present and in control; but a number of Kasmirans are present in a "tower" built into a cliff.

Using Mord's odd abilities, our heroes board the wind-carrack, and plunder the main cabin. Scrolls and such detailing the Rajan Plan (or at least the fact that they're tunneling under Lake Zephyr; the writing is in Rajanin) are found and taken. After leaving a mess, a body, and a half-hearted trap (a pile of papers, soaked in lamp-oil, with an oil lamp nestled on top, left behind the door into the main cabin, or behind a body, or in some other place where a violent Rajan might tip the lamp over without knowing it was there), the characters proceed towards the tower inhabited by the Kasmirans, on the assumptions that (a) the Kasmirans will have wealth, (b) the Kasmirans will know more about the connection between this plot and the Seven Kingdoms, and (c) the Kasmirans are likely to have an escape route. It's about a week before one of the major Dracartan festival holidays, hmm.
