narrative description
|
Served in the US Navy 1970-1974 as a diver (wet, dry and hardhat), final rank Petty Officer 1st Class (E-6), qualified as first class naval diver. He held a fairly high security clearance while in the Navy.
1974-1978 earned his B.S. in Marine Engineering from Maine Maritime Academy; 1978-1980 M.S. Marine Engineering from University of Maine-Portland, with an emphasis on marine and underwater operations and logistics (via correspondence and distance learning as well as seminars). Conversational Spanish and Russian, minimal Indonesian Malay, a tiny bit of Tagalog.
Plays the violin, keyboards, drums, sings, composes a bit of music, and can sketch and paint. Likes to dance and is pretty good at it.
Out of the Navy, he worked as an underwater construction and salvage diver along the U.S. East Coast, Gulf of Mexico, Indonesia and the Philippines. He had a Class 3 firearm license, and was PADI certified as a dive instructor.
Divorced.
