A note on "rate of fire" (ROF):

  • ROF burst: use the Attack major action.

  • ROF 1:  use the Attack major action.

  • ROF 1 or burst:  use the Attack major action.

  • ROF 2:  use the Attack major action, and the Second Attack minor action.

  • ROF 2 or burst:  use either Attack major action and Second Attack minor action for two single shots, or just one Attack if firing a burst.

  • ROF 1 per X rounds:   use the Reload major action X-1 times, then the Attack major action.

Also, the various "burst" rates include the rate one step slower ... so a weapon capable of "long burst" can also fire "burst".

M33A1 Riot Control Disperser

A backpack with a pressurized air tank (200 psi) and a riot control agent tank (capacity 11.3 liters), and a spray gun on a short discharge hose. Various nozzle units can be fitted to give a narrow jet, wide jet, or 'fog' of dry or liquid agents. Mass 21.8 kg when filled and pressurized.

  • The M254 loading kit is used to refill the disperser. It's a set of hoses, gauges, and adapters to fill the agent tank and air tank. You also need an air compressor or other source of 300 psi compressed air; most Morrow Project vehicles mount an air compressor.

  • The AN-M4 air compressor is a backpack unit, designed to refill flamethrowers and riot control dispersers. It's got a 1.5 horsepower gasoline engine, and weighs 31 kg. It can produce compressed air up to 2000 psi. It's not a Project item, but is listed here for completeness ...

The frame is a Vietnam-era Army pack frame (similar to the ALICE frame), with various clamps and supports bolted to it, along with a tubular holster for the nozzle when not in use. Changing an expended agent tank or air tank takes a minute or so.

CS (dry) or CR (liquid) agents are the intended contents of the agent tank. Talcum powder is used for training. Plastic bottles holding 13 liters of dry CS agent are the usual Project issue; the full bottle weighs 3.6 kg. Unit of issue is 5 bottles per wooden crate, crate weight 38 kilograms. CR liquid agent comes in a 11.3 liter steel pail (very much like how house paint is sold), weight 16 kg.

  • Effective and maximum range 15 meters in still air. ROF 1, malfunction 91+. The common malfunctions are valves not opened correctly, hoses not attached correctly, nozzles or valves clogged, leaks in air system, leaks in agent system, riot control agent being blown in the wrong direction, leaks in operator's gas mask. The weapon skill used is Pepper Spray.

Bulk CS Riot Control Agent

For 50 psi aircraft or vehicle dispersing systems, such as the M5. A 1.2 meter tall tank, weight 79 kg empty, and 101 kg filled. The tank contains enough agent for two minutes of continuous 'firing'; the system can project CS about 12 meters. A 17 kg wooden crate is used for shipping the tank (thus full crate weighs 118 kg).

If the Project stocks other "gases" for dispersal by vehicles, they'd be in the same container.

M36 Riot Control Disperser, Individual

A one-hand "tear gas sprayer". The 37mm diameter bottle is 16 cm tall, and weighs 0.11 kg. It can project liquid CR agent up to 4 meters, in roughly 20 one-second bursts (or in one long stream, if so desired). It's issued with an olive-drab nylon belt holster. 144 of these are packed in a wooden crate weighing 21 kg.

  • Effective and maximum range 4 meters in still air. ROF 1, malfunction 96+. The common malfunctions are valve sticking open or closed, riot control agent being blown in the wrong direction, leaks in operator's gas mask. The weapon skill used is Pepper Spray.

Mk 9 Smoke Discharger

A multi-barrel smoke discharger, fitted mostly to armored fighting vehicles. The launchers hold six 66mm smoke grenades; the grenades are thrown upwards and outwards when fired, to burst (after a 0.75 second delay) 25 to 30 meters from the launcher, and about 8 meters above the launcher. Each grenade nearly instantly forms a dense smoke cloud, which smells very nasty (the smoke material is mostly red phosphorus, with 5% butyl rubber). The smoke cloud lasts from one to three minutes; flammable material can be ignited by the grenades. The launchers can fire individual rounds, or salvos of three or six rounds; each launcher weighs 15 kg, each smoke grenade weighs 0.7 kg.

Inside the vehicle will be an arming box, and a push-button firing unit.

There is also an anti-riot grenades for the Mk 9 system, but the Morrow Project doesn't stock them.
