Dad mostly grew hay and had a small grapefruit orchard. JD was heartily sick of grapefruit but it won't be long til it becomes nostalgic. JD had minimal success as a DJ further down the coast in West Palm Beach ("Tuesday night is New Wave Night at the Shark's Tooth Bar").. Jimmy Don lived in a loft of a large .shed. that served as storage and repair area for farm equipment. There, he was free to play his music as loud as he wanted though he still got complaints about the racket. The GOBAFT was a smaller shed behind the equipment shed and served as a place for things that Jimmy was sure he could fix some day. The equipment shed served as practice space for the Mall Rats in high school, beer busts,target practice, and other misbehavior. Dad would say "You want to stay up all night, that's your business but you will be up at 6 am to dig postholes and string fence." Once he saw a manatee in an agricultural canal ("that was weird").
During Spring Break, JD would head up to Daytona or down to "Snort Liquordale" to surf, dance, and try to score with college gals. Sometimes he'd be friends with kids whose family owned a speed boat and they'd take their mischief to the water. JDJ was never much of a water skier, preferring inner tubes and sleds for the spectacular wipeouts..

- military brat, Dad was a meteorologist, possibly at NAS in FLA panhandle before retiring and moving to Fort Pierce area
- attended Indian River Community College, studying Law Enforcement in an on-again/off-again manner
- front-man for various, uniformly dubious high-school bands, including:
- Rat Scampi & the Mall Rats (punk), along with Rat Fink, Rat Bastard, Rat Ptooey
- Stanky Bunions & the Road Apples (C&W), along with Scratchy Shingles, Gomer's Piles, and Verruca Palooka
- Jårg Matïes of Smegmata (heavy metal piracy)
- likes session beers, fishing, shooting. Cited on multiple occasions for disturbing the peace for doing all 3 at once.
- considers himself a tinkerer and good at redneck engineering
- proud owner of the Garage Of Broken And Forgotten Tools
- was on his high school wrestling team
- his bass player, a Seminole, was also on the wrestling team and now works doing alligator wrestling. He's let Jimmy try that a few times.
- Commuted to Melbourne to work at Cadillac-Gage as a security guard.
