Randolf Otterling

Randolf P. Otterling, M.P.

member of Parliament for West Dweedhole, and Society Light

Slim and handsome, sandy hair, brown eyes, mustache, fashionable clothing; born 3 March 1833, age 43

Born into wealth, you've never worked a day in your life. Educated at Rugby and Oxford (1854), you managed to graduate with a lot of friends but only minimal academic skills. You are a member of some fashionable clubs, visit the South of France in season, and know all sorts of important (but inconsequential) people.

As a charismatic orator, you were persuaded by some chums to run for Parliament; it's quite fun, and doesn't take up much time. You were elected in 1874 as the Conservative member for West Dweedhole, a drab little farming district in the Midlands (you do not live there). The party leader (and prime minister) is Benjamin Disraeli; in August of 1876 he becomes Lord Beaconsfield, and is elevated to the House of Lords.

You speak excellent English, passable French, and atrocious Latin and Greek.

Besides a large country estate in Loamshire, a house in London's Adelphi Terrace, a yacht at Cowes, a mistress in Paris, a box at the opera, memberships in various exclusive clubs, and reserved suites at the best hotels ... what else is there?
