You are a water-leaper, and resemble a huge winged tadpole; 4 wide, 5' 6" long, 20' wingspan, mottled greenish-grey, blue-grey eyes. You don't know your age -- over a thousand years, at least.
-
social goal: be accepted by, and learn to get along with, humans
-
professional goal: eat a lot of bad faeries
-
romantic goal: why should the dragons, dwarves and sidhe have all the fun in Society?
-
nemesis: the Unseelie Court, since you told Miss Pewbrey a lot of secrets
You spent centuries lurking in various Welsh streams and rivers, jumping out at fishermen and other riparian passers-by. You would, sometimes, eat them ... but it was nothing personal. More often you ate cows, birds, sheep, etc.
In recent decades, the few kinds of faerie you could talk with seemed to be disappearing -- water nymphs leaving their streams after they were bridged with iron, nuckelavees hunted down by sorcerers or the authorities, and so forth. You became lonely.
One day a couple of years ago, you jumped out of your stream at a young woman -- just to scare her, you swear! However, she did not scream and run about like most humans; in fact, she cast a defensive spell and glared at you as if you were a large bug. This woman was Miss Ellen Pewlen, a talented sorceress. Miss Pewlen gave you a severe talking-to, and you sheepishly apologized and crept back into your stream.
Miss Pewlen had taken up the lease of an old vicarage and farm nearby, to conduct some delicate magical research. Every day, she would take a walk along the stream, and you would poke your head out of the water and bid her good morning. Soon, you began having conversations. You told her faerie lore, and Miss Pewlen spoke of her doings, or read the newspaper aloud to you.
The sorceress apparently took on the project of improving your moral and spiritual values; not entirely successfully, but amazing nonetheless. She moved on after about a year, and you soon became a lonely water-leaper again. You've decided to do something about that, and left your stream. Your stated view of eating is, "Don't eat good people."
You have the Fear power of a haunt (Kindred Power vs. Courage), along with their repulsions (iron, salt, crosses, prayer, bells, inside-out clothing).
Known languages: Welsh, English, Latin, Latin, and various faerie dialects. Health 8 points.
