"RIB" stands for rigid inflatable boat. It's actually 7.24 meters long, with a beam of 2.7 meters, and a draft of 0.5 meter. The hull is of fiberglass construction, with multi-chamber inflation tubes on the sides; displacement 1.9 tons empty, max displacement 3.4 tons. It's propelled by a 300 HP electric outboard motor with a stainless steel propeller (limited to 5800 RPM), top speed is 40 knots, high cruising speed 30 knots.
Electrical power is provided by a Fusion Generator Mk 1, water-cooled; two Project "vehicle batteries" are provided for starting and emergency power. The reactor and electric motor weigh about the same as the original combustion engine and fuel tank ...
It has two secure dry-storage lockers, and a tripod/pedestal mount for a .30 caliber-class weapon; the console area has Resistweave panels on three sides, and thick plexiglass windscreen forward. Fitted equipment includes a fire extinguisher, magnetic compass, 25 watt marine radio with direction finder, PRC-70 radio, fathometer, Raytheon Pathfinder radar, lighting (including spotlights at the helm and on the gun mount), bilge pump, siren, horn and LSS-40 loudspeaker, anchor, boat hook, basic first aid kit, swim steps, tow line and winch. 1 driver plus up to 7 passengers on seats (4 passengers if they're heavily-equipped); "jammed full" it can carry 18 persons. First deployed by the Project in 1987.
