3rd of Ardan
The travellers arrive at a farm, where Dragonlily (a muse from Astar) and her garden whisp, Digg are the guests of Lady Guillitonee and Lord Fennogryn. The heroes are immediately charmed (pretty much literally), and led to the farmhouse.
The lord offers the travelers refreshments; the presence of a female Xambrian is also mentioned. After cleaning up, the group is summoned to dinner; seated near Vidan is the Xambrian, Lortha (a rather battle-worn woman in her mid-twenties). One topic: news of the Horde (aka Swarm) on the coast of Zandu. Lady Guillitonee buys Puliko's draconid for a tremendous sum of money (after being refused by Aldak).
After dinner, Dragonlily presents an illusion or vision of a (human) army on the coast, being confronted by a powerful, evil wizard -- the wizard is calling forth demons, spirit dragons and terrible spells. Only a few members of the army survive the wizard's assault.
Our Heroes leave the Archive of Andru (and the bust etc.) with Lady Guillotinee.
Later, Vidan and Lortha wander under the purple moon of romance ...

Over breakfast, the travellers discuss plans. The manor is an hour north of Zanth. Dragonlily approaches Keja about joining the party for the trip to Arim. Tzirshullah announces she will meet us in Zandre in a week or two, when we begin hunting the ghast in Silvanus. We let Asphyx out of the cellar he has been locked in; he is also heading to Zanth for the Night of Fools. The remainder of the party sets off for Aldak's childhood home in Arim:

While spending the night in an abandoned farmhouse, the group is attacked by the "Phaedran Gulch Gang" of Arimite thugs. Dragonlily is hit by an arrow in her shoulder as the first sign of the sneak attack. The villains throw a torch and shoot burning arrows; the adventurers lurch to their feet. Vidan and Puliko rush the archers in front; Aldak chases the thugs off from the rear. The gang all run away except for one, who is released after a few questions. Dragonlily notices a bear trap left behind the cabin, so Vidan sets it off and presents it to Dragonlily. There was some kind of flesh-destroying poison on at least one of the daggers that hit Vidan; after a ferocious purgative and some healing he is left with a discolored scar on his shoulder by morning.
