Keep in mind that some of these weapons have different damage values than the numbers found in Call of Cthulhu. We're using the Taylor Knock-Out Factor (TKO) as the basis for comparison, by the way.

A sealed tin containing 350 rounds of .303" ball ammunition, on stripper clips, in bandoleers, with a wooden "carrying crate" with a wire bale handle, weighs 45 pounds. A lot of the weight is the packaging, but it's very well-sealed and protected.

A sealed tin containing 1000 rounds of .30-06 ball ammunition, in 20 round boxes, weighs 66 pounds. 800 rounds in 20 round boxes, in a sealed tin, in a wooden packing crate, weighs 66 pounds -- it's much better protected by the wooden crate, but weighs more "per round".
