     This is primarily a list of NPCs met in the course of play.  Some major NPCs from canonical publications are included, with reference to the books and pages where more can be learned about them. Deceased characters are listed in grey. Revived characters are listed in green. Immortal characters and those met beyond the Veil are in magenta. Notes:

A

Adeline - a young female apostate mage, found in Montsimmard. Entirely untrained when Bran's Bunch met her. Taken to Mythalvhenan.   

Adina - chamberlain/secretary to the Arl of South Reach.

Aenar - an elvish arcane warrior, blood mage, and cultist of Fen-Harel, active in Montsimmard (at least).

Aine - female Dalish elf, formerly of the Mythalnaste clan, now a member of the Fen'Harel cult in Montsimmard. Former wife of Malvelan. Mother of Bran.

Alain - human male Templar from Orlais, joined Gray Wardens after falling in love with one (Waye, bard, f, died 9:27). Missing, presumed dead at Ostagar.

Alaric - a Carta dwarf, he took a vital part from the Machine at Woevill. 

Alfred - a laidir at Woevill, part of the pack working with Bann Daniella. 

Alistair - human male Gray Warden, and a former Templar. He was in charge of dragonlings at Denerim, and responsible for their escape. A protégé of Duncan's.

Alora - elven female, leader of a Dalish clan of a few hundred scouts and skirmishers.

Alpheus - human male, mage and Gray Warden, conscripted from Kinloch Hold by Mirian to protect him from the templar/mage phylactery conspiracy. [Nathan]

Alys - aka Alicien 

Andra - female Dalish elf, was serving as companion to Bran. 

Andson - young male thief from Highever, conscripted by Cray to be a Gray Warden. Missing at Ostagar, the survivors thought him dead, but he was instead captured by Tyrn Loghain's forces. Executed for regicide in Denerim 5 Justinian, 9:30 Dragon.

Anora - Queen of Ferelden.

Queen Anora Theirin (née Mac Tir) is the wife of King Cailan Theirin and daughter of Teyrn Loghain Mac Tir. She is the Queen of Ferelden, a consummate ruler and committed to ensuring economic security for Ferelden.

Anuon - an elven Shepherd, works with Grey, seen near Montsimmard. He doesn't speak much. 

Anwen Cousland - Orphaned daughter of Teyrn Bryce Cousland and Teyrna Eleanor Cousland of Highever. Joined the Wardens at Ostagar.

Ardawn - Dalish scout of the 2nd Age, remembered by Eornan. Died as a werewolf. Alternate spelling:  Ardan. Father of Laleal, whose mother was Iveana

Ashland - male human Free Marcher, and a Circle Mage (force mage specialization). Died 30 Bloomingtide 9:30 Dragon, in the Bannorn.

Athras - Dalish mage and healer of the 2nd Age, remembered by Landon. Died as a werewolf.


B

Banraeus - male elven mage, leader of the Filii Orcis rebels in Arksmonten 

Bartreg - male dwarven warrior and Grey Warden. Traveled with Jayce, left for dead under Mythalvhenan and captured by the Architect. Freed by Tienan, and working under Sextus after that. Spirit imprisoned in his own body (it's complicated) by Aurelinus.

Barvenna - mother of Landon; an Old Korcarian.

Belarn - an alchemist in Lothering; he assisted Bran's Bunch with useful potions 

Ben - a young squire at Redcliffe, who once served Ser Leofrick

Benat - a Templar in Lothering, under the command of Gray

Bene - former praesul (leader) of Arksmonten, at the time when the Old Korcarians left.

Benn - Templar from Jader, a recent recruit. (M/L)

Bevan - Templar, travelling with Ser Tam.

Boane -  former Captain of Templars at the Kirkwall Circle Tower.  In his forties(?), he became a Warden in the last two years.  Spotted Landon as an apostate with little trouble; sincerely does not care about it.  Tower politics seems to have soured him beyond caring about apostates. Presumably has access to Templar elixir as he doesn't seem the least bit strung out by lyrium withdrawal - or maybe becoming a Warden cures that?  Unknown.  Knows a thing or two about grenades. Missing, presumed dead at Ostagar.

Bona   - Reverend Mother of the Chantry in Redcliffe Village. 

Borvannus - A large, muscular man in middle age, with black hair. He's an Old Korcarian, in a relationship with Barvenna.

Bran - A strapping youth with notions of glory, unburdened by imagination or knowledge of the world. Holds Carney's memories. Spirit imprisoned in a dagger by Aurelinus. [Kirk]

Brendish    - Herbalist, member of the Dale's Turn Dalish elves

Brianna - Dalish huntress of the 2nd Age, remembered by Daniella. Died as a werewolf.

Professor Brookstone - he has about twelve years of tenure at the University at Val Royeau, and has an interest in reference works.

Bryant - in command of the Templars at Lothering 

Bryland - Arl of South Reach.

Bryton - male human Fereldan; a bann in the Edgehall area. He is young and brave, but not seasoned. His forces number about 400 men.

 


C

Cailan Theirin - King of Ferelden.

Son of King Maric Theirin and Queen Rowan, Cailan Theirin is the King of Ferelden. He had been king since his father's death in 9:25; he's been ruling alongside his wife Queen Anora, daughter of the hero Loghain Mac Tir. Died at Ostagar.

Carine - younger daughter of the Duke of Montsimmard 

Carney - Dalish Emerald Knight of 2nd Age, remembered by Bran. Died as a werewolf.

Carys - the former wife of Professor Holley. Like him, she was a Fereldan;  she had separated from the professor about 10 years ago. She had also been an instructor at the University, teaching about other cultures; as far as anyone knew, she'd returned to Ferelden after leaving her post.

Celene Valmont I -- Empress of Orlais, and niece of Germaine de Chalons

Celie -- older daughter of Duke Germain de Chalons

Chanel - current (second) wife of Duke Germain de Chalons, mother of his two daughters

Bann Chenrey - lord of Forgotten Valley, in the Bannorn. He and his people joined with the refugees from Minehead to flee north from the Blight in the summer of 9:30 Dragon.

Cifano - male bard and Gray Warden. Says he is Orlesian, might be Antivan. Trained as an assassin. Missing, presumed dead at Ostagar.

Sir Colter - an officer in Loghain's forces after the Battle of Ostagar; in charge of a party of the regent's men at South Reach during 9:30 Dragon. 

Connor - the son of arl Eamon

Cory - a Templar at South Reach, discovered in Howe's dungeons at Alton Keep

Cranborne - a Templar knight-corporal from Lothering, slain by the Abomination Vren

Cray - Fereldan warrior, veteran of the war with Orlais, now a Gray Warden. Cold, ruthless, and all about the mission. Missing, presumed dead at Ostagar.

Cullen Rutherford - Templar from the Bannorn, a recent recruit, currently stationed at Kinloch Hold. His father is bann Rutherford. (M/L)

Cuthbert - Mercenary lieutenant of Rendon Howe's; planned the attack on Highever. Executed in the dungeon of Alton Keep.


D

Daniella - a roguish and very skilled young archer raised as a farmer at Redcliffe. A restless young woman with a spirit of adventure and a heart of bravery. She holds the memories of Brianna. As of 9:30 Guardian, she is the Bann of Woevill; known to be working with the Laidir, and her brother Varrel, and her mother Valerie (a werewolf and Warden). Character sheet is here. [Dana]

Daeglan - Dalish keeper of the 2nd Age. Brought the curse of lycanthropy on his clan. 

Daveth - a thief from Denerim and Warden recruit. Died at Ostagar during his Joining ritual.

Daylan  - a Templar, part of Greer's group; slain by the Abomination Vren 

Bann Decker - lord of Minehead; lost a leg during the summer of 9:30, and led his people north into the Bannorn and beyond. 

Dennit - horsemaster to the Arl of Redcliffe; maintains a stable a few miles south of the castle.  

Deverick - male human Orlesian, a secretary serving Gustav du Chalon.

Dimitriv  - human male Chasind, possibly uncle to Reyla. One of his eyes powers the Screamcatcher. 

Dog - Bran's dog, left at the Dalish camp. 

Drexil - a Carta dwarf, leader of a group of dwarves at Plumbrook waiting for payment from the possessor of the Machine at Woevill.

Duncan - human male, Warden-Commander of Ferelden. Celebrated his "50th" birthday at the Last Party. Missing, presumed dead at Ostagar.  

Dyeir - a ne'er-do-well elvish rogue in Denerim, until recently a gang leader. He inadvertently set the Alienage on fire seven years ago. Former boyfriend of Laney. Killed (burned alive) by members of his own gang.


E

Eamon Guerrin - human male, arl of Redcliffe. An assassination attempt left him disabled for many months after the battle of Ostagar.  

He and Teagon are the younger brothers of Queen Rowan, wife to King Maric; and thus he was uncle to King Cailin.  

Ebriss - a Gray Warden, warrior. Bann's son from Amaranthine area. Missing, presumed dead on the field at Ostagar. 

Eddy - a young male human of Ferelden, and a useful minion to the bann of Forgotten Valley. 

Eirik - Apothecary in South Reach, offering bounty on werewolf claws.

Elemena - an elderly woman, Grand Cleric of the Chantry for Ferelden. She tasked Peyton's Templars with destroying the Wardens; presumably she has been convinced of Loghain's claims regarding the Wardens' motives.

Elysia - this elven woman is the Praesul (leader or protector) of the Caeli folk at Arksmonten. She's a very old and powerful spirit and blood mage.

Endon - human male warrior, captain of the Black Hounds - a score of skilled and well-equipped mercenaries. Elevated to Bann of Edgehall. 

Eornan - Elven scout/guide, born in Denerim. Holds Ardawn's memories. [Hugh]

Erin - female Gray Warden, Ferelden, near 40. Confidant of Queen Anora, companion to Duncan. Missing, presumed dead at Ostagar.

Esme - the mother of Garrick, a portrait artist and a hostage of Arl Howe.

Eriq - an elven Warden, held captive by the Architect. Uncle to Alpheus.

Eveline - red-haired Orlesian bard and Gray Warden, in her late twenties. Has a soft spot for Garrick. Missing, presumed dead at Ostagar.

Evan - a Circle tower mage from Montsimmard. Died at Ostagar during his Joining ritual.


F

Faber - Templar Knight from Amaranthine, Bann's son. (M/L)

Fae - proprietor of the Maison La Harmonie in Val Royeau

Fallon -- female human Fereldan warrior; leader of a mercenary band of 100 men-at-arms. They're poorly-armed, with limited resources. 

Farineya - daughter of Ulrik and Valerie, sister of Daniella. A swordswoman and now a werewolf.

Felrey - former use name of Eornan.

Felsi - the daughter of Bann Franderel of West Hill; she's an apostate mage, and formerly a prisoner of Arl Howe at White River Manor, in Amaranthine (the arl moved her somewhere else before mid-Haring of 9:29 Dragon.

Fi - Mabari bitch. Seems faithful to Seder's wagon, though willing to leave it temporarily. Currently keeping an eye on Daniella, the new bann of Woevill.

Flemeth - the Witch of the Wilds, very old and powerful. Had been keeping the Wardens' Treaties safe. She has many daughters, one of which is Morrigan.

Franderel - Bann of West Hill. His daughter, Felsi, is held hostage by Arl Howe.

 


G

Gaile - young female elf, left Orlesian Circle Tower to join Gray Wardens. Died during Joining.

Garahel - male elven Gray Warden, killed the Archdemon of the Fourth Blight. Apparently knew Elysia of Arksmonten.

Garrick - a young and daring scholar, artist and librarian at Amaranthine, recently became a Gray Warden. Garrick made an enemy of Arl Rendon Howe when he tried to free one of the Arl's "guests" and subsequently learned of misdeeds by the Arl. M.I.A. while investigating in Gwaren. He has some connection to a member of the Pentaghast family. [Kevin]

George - a dragonling subdued by our heroes and gifted to Bryland, Arl of South Reach. Inflicted a serious wound on the Arlessa; fate unknown.

Gell Lendon - former arl of Edgehall, fled towards Orlais after the castle was assaulted by his bann's forces. 

Ferdinand Genitivi -- a Chantry scholar, with a home in Denerim. He may know of the location of Andraste's Ashes. 

Glyan - an elven mage and arcane warrior, originally from the Dalish tribes, and until recently part of Dyeir's gang in Denerim. One of the three gang members who killed Dyeir. 

Gray - a Knight-Corporal of the Templars; commanded the Templar group which destroyed Vren. Currently stationed at unknown.

Greagoir - a Templar Knight-Commander, in charge of the Templars at Kinloch Hold. 

Grey - an elven shepherd, born long ago, met by Bran's Bunch in Orlais. Son of Iveani. Very skilled and well-equipped. 

Greer  - a Knight-Corporal of the Templars at South Reach; he released Mythrellen into the custody of the Gray Wardens.

Griff - male human Fereldan warrior, bann of Honnleath, husband of Tarian Hellwyr, and father of Gruffen, Bran and Linette. 

Gruffen - male human Fereldan warrior, son and heir of Griff, brother of Bran and Linette. Rescued from Arksmonten by Bran's Bunch. 

Germain de Chalons, Duke of Montsimmard - male human Orlesian noble, believed to be Alpheus' biological father. Uncle to Celene Valmont I, Empress of Orlais. His wife is Chanel; his daughters are Celie and Carine.


H

Habren - First-born son of the Arl of South Reach.

Hale - one of Arl Howe's minions at White River Manor, in Amaranthine; Garrick would recognize him.

Hayne - a Chasind, Gray Warden, and trainer of Mabari hounds. Died during the Joining on First Day, 9:30.

Professor Holley - a former professor at the University at Val Royeau. A native of Ferelden; his former wife was Carys. 

Rendon Howe - human male warrior, until recently Arl of Amaranthine, now Arl of Denerim. Father of Nathaniel, Thomas and Delilah, son of Tarleton Howe, and an enemy of Garrick's. (Voiced by Tim Curry!)

Hugo - a member of The Great Wolf's crew, and a skilled rogue.


Ida - Dalish apprentice keeper of the 2nd age. Remembered by Kiera. Died as a werewolf.

Ida - a Revered Mother, in charge of minor chantry (Saint Justine's) in Denerim circa 7:20 Storm.

Imshael - a demon also known as Foras Mendax (roughly "deceiver from beyond"), one of the Forbidden Ones. He took the form of Tiro for a while, to deceive Our Heroes.

Isabel Noiret - an herbalist in Val Royeau; she'd been providing substances for Professor Holley. (Isabeau?)

Isolde - arlessa of Redcliffe, wife of Eamon, mother of Connor. Born into a noble Orlesian family. 

Iveani - elf arcane warrior and blood mage, mother of Laleal (also known as Grey), whose father was Ardawn/Ardan. Killed by Bran on 5 Bloomingtide 9:30.


J

Jayce Barras - female Grey Warden in her early to mid-twenties, native of Gwaren. Shoulder-length, auburn hair; equipped in half-plate armor, shield, longbow and sword. The third (youngest) daughter of Barras family, banns in the Gwaren area. Last seen in Denerim, traveling with Lord Tivonari Pentagast on a mission to kill some dragons that have been plaguing the Brecilian Forest. Missing, presumed dead at Ostagar.

Jory - knight from Highever and Warden recruit. Died at Ostagar during his Joining ritual.

Jowan - an apostate Blood mage, escaped from the Circle, and hired by arlessa Isolde of Redcliffe.  Currently imprisoned at Redcliffe.

Julian - demon-allied mage, working for Rendon Howe under Marnya's leadership. Slain in combat at Alton Keep.

Julien Hector - now deceased, he had been a music instructor at the University in Val Royeau. He died of a stroke.

Julien - Orlesian Circle Tower enchanter from Val Royeaux, a force mage to be specific. Was part of the Orlesian garrison at Edgehall.

Jules - a Circle Tower mage from Montsimmard. Joined the Wardens at Ostagar.

Juvo - proprietor of the Fine Fin seafood restaurant in Denerim; he's an Old Korcarian, and an elder of their culture. According to Tiro, Juvo is the Tratador of the Korcarians.


K

Kalihara - Lore Keeper of the Dale's Turn elves. Strongly dislikes humans; had vision of our heroes.

Kail - male human Fereldan warrior, a bann in the Edgehall area. He's convinced that he is a good commander -- others are not convinced. His forces number 400 men, chosen for looks rather than talent, and well-equipped. He was mortally injured by the darkspawn attack on his manor, and died on 9:30 Dragon.  

Karl - Templar from the Free Marches, on loan from Kirkwall. (M/L)

Kiera - Dalish keeper, apprenticed to Kalihara. Holds Ida's memories, she is part of Eornan's former Dalish clan. Her legs had been broken during a darkspawn attack before the Battle of Ostagar, and one leg was amputated on 17 Draconis 9:30 Dragon.  She had been sent back to the Brecilian Forest with the laidir.

Ladarelan - human male, the chief doctor in Arksmonten, had studied medicine with Turpin 

Laird - Templar peer of Martin's, slain by an Ash Wraith when phylacteries were lost. (M/L)

Laleal - an elf born in 2:20 Glory, still alive; one of the Shepherds, and son of Ardan and Iveani. He's usually known as Grey. 

Lamon Corth - an Old Korcarian living in or near Denerim; he owns a shipyard. 

Landon - an itinerant scribe and apostate mage. Born in the village of Hanlon, educated in Denerim, Landon is descended from a people he calls the Korcarians. Holds Athras' memories. [Michael]

Laney - a skilled elven rogue from Denerim, until recently part of Dyeir's gang. Joined the Wardens at Ostagar. Believed to be in the custody of Loghain Mac Tir.  

Lanya - human female; she is a bann in the Edgehall region. Very patriotic, with a deep hatred of Orlesians. Unwilling to abide by bad decisions, or follow a poor leader.

Leliana - human female, an Orlesian bard (and probably a spy or assassin), although born in Ferelden. Claims to have joined Anwen Cousland at Lothering due to a vision from the Maker. 

Ser Leofrick:  a knight from Redcliffe, in his mid-30s. A staunch follower of the Chantry's rules, and slain by the dragon guarding the Temple of Sacred Ashes.

Linette - human female, sister of Bran, daughter of Tarian Hellwyr and Griff. Rescued from Arksmonten by Bran's Bunch.

Lloyd - male human; he's the innkeeper at Redcliffe 

Loghain Mac Tir - a powerful Ferelden warlord and teyrn; his seat is at Gwaren, south of the Brecilian Forest.

Loghain was born a farmer during a time when his country was under foreign occupation. When he was still a boy, he joined the resistance, where his considerable tactical genius quickly became apparent. He became close friends with Prince Maric, the last true heir to the Fereldan throne, and together they led the rebels to drive out the forces of the Orlesian Empire. Maric raised his friend to the nobility, and Loghain is now more of a symbol than a man: he represents the Fereldan ideals of hard work and independence. Currently, Loghain is serving as Regent of Ferelden.

Luther - false name used by Martin, in his guise as a tinker from Denerim. (M/L) 

Lyrnet - widow of the tavern-keeper at the White Buck Tavern


Macer - male human Fereldan warrior. Captain of the troops of Woevill.

Mads Ovedotten - a female warrior of Sun Hawk Hold. She was captured by Alora's Dalish group and delivered to Our Heroes at Edgehall.

Maddoc - one of the Helwyr, and great uncle to Bran. Missing in action since 922.

Maive - Dalish Emerald Knight of the 2nd Age, married to Ardawn. Died as a werewolf in 2:27.

Malic - elven male, scout, Gray Warden. Fell into a cave with Tienan, below Hounds Hall in Denerim. "Gifted" with greatly enhanced range for detecting darkspawn. Captured by the Architect's forces at Ostagar, Malic is now cooperating with the darkspawn magister.

Malvelan - male Dalish elf, heavily armed, a warrior of Alora's band. Mid-40s. He was told to deliver Mads to Our Heroes after she was captured in Alora's Pass.

Mason Heanne - the 'Last Recruit' was a warrior, son of a Bann. Died during the First Day Joining when he fled. 

Mandlen - Dalish elf met near Dale's Turn

Marcel Corbin - male human Orlesian chevalier; commander of the mercenaries at Edgehall. A respected military commander who fell from grace in Orlesian society.

Maric Theirin - the previous king of Ferelden, supposedly lost at sea several years ago

At around the beginning of the Dragon Age, he freed Ferelden from the rule of the Orlesian Empire with support from his later queen, Rowan, and close friend Loghain Mac Tir. He and Rowan had one son, Cailan Theirin. Maric was lost at sea in 9:25 Dragon, and his son Cailan inherited the throne.

Marissa- demon-allied Force Mage, working for Rendon Howe under Marnya's leadership. Executed at Alton Keep. 

Marnya- daughter of Ulrik and Valerie, sister of Daniella. An apostate mage, possessed by a powerful demon. Died at Alton Keep.

Martin - a rogue Templar, accused of complicity in the loss or theft of some phylacteries. Age 21, dark hair, blue eyes. Incautious and rather bumbling fellow, hardly a criminal  mastermind. Murdered by unknown hands on 1st Wintermarch of 9:30.  He often went by the false name "Luther". (M/L) 

Mayena - teenage daughter of the deceased tavern-keeper of the White Buck Tavern 

Maven - an elven keeper, who lived near Red Crossing in the same time at Athras, and was a mentor to him. 

Maxwell - male human Orlesian, and a Templar.

Mercer - son of Ulrik and Valerie, brother of Daniella. An (apostate?) mage, became a werewolf and soon after an Abomination. Killed in a fight with other werewolves.

Mercer (2) - Bryland's best animal wrangler, took charge of George the dragonling

Merrill - a Templar Knight-Commander, based in Montsimmard in Orlais. He sent Peyton and her team to Ferelden, in pursuit of Alpheus. Probably corrupt or deceived.

Mia Rutherford - eldest daughter and heir of bann Rutherford

Miles - male human mage; the Tratidor. He was sent from Arksmonten by praesul Benes to find a method of defending the city, and found the Stella Maris.

Mirian - an older female Warden and senior enchanter of the Circle of Magi. Mirian is trained as a Force mage and is a scholar of the Blight. Missing, presumed dead at Ostagar. 

Modiv - an elvish apostate mage and Fen'Harel cultist, part of Aenar's "cubs" in Montsimmard. Captured by Bran's Bunch. 

Monica - Circle Tower mage traveling with Fergus Cousland on the Mistral.

Morrigan - a sorceress, Witch of the Wilds, and daughter of Flemeth.

Mortis - one of Arl Howe's minions at White River Manor, in Amaranthine; Garrick would recognize him.

Mythrellen - Circle Tower mage with little pragmatic experience. Claimed to be from Denerim, she was the "cargo" Bran was hired to transport from Redcliff to South Reach, nominally a Circle Mage originally from Denerim. Rescued by Our Heroes from the South Reach Templars, but perished in Celatus. More info here.


N

Nedlen - young human male, nicknamed 'Ned'. An apprentice Circle mage, he escaped from the Tower with Vren, but was recaptured and returned to the Tower to become Tranquil.


 

Oghren - a Dwarf berserker and alcoholic, working with the Wardens

Olaniv - Dwarf innkeeper of "Dane's" (the only inn at Dane's Turn).

Olin - male human Orlesian, a Templar working under Peyton; defeated aboard the Mistral.

Orli - son of Ulrik and Valerie, brother of Daniella. A bard, became a werewolf and works with Verell in the Brecilian Forest.

Orta - Dwarf, Olaniv's wife, she also lives and works at "Dane's." The middle-aged dwarven couple have lived in Dane's Turn for more than 20 years and have no children.

Owen - human male Fereldan; smith in Redcliffe.


P

Parth - human male warrior; he's a bann in the Edgehall region. The best commander in the western borderlands of Ferelden, with the best forces. Believes that other nobles will conspire against him.

Penn - Lord Tivanoari Pentagast, Nevarran duelist, dragon hunter, and Gray Warden. Impeccably groomed, dressed, and charming - no matter what. Missing, presumed dead at Ostagar.

Pentag  - a liquor merchant in Denerim, with a stall in the food-and-beverage market. He has been known to provide very high quality goods from time to time.

Peter - male human Orlesian chevalier, serving as escort to Deverick.

Knight-Lieutenant Peyton - a female human Orlesian, and a Templar; she is well-known for her pursuit (persecution?) of escaped Circle mages, apostates, and blood mages. Seen in the summer of 9:30 Dragon in Ferelden, with Knight Royce and a few other Templars -- she twice attempted to kill or capture the member's of Bran's Bunch, especially Alpheus. 

Pyne Amril - until recently a bann in South Reach, with his official manor at High Creek House. A collector of ancient coins, and involved in big-money deals around his lead mines. He was the employer of the Black Hounds mercenaries until the end of 9:29 Dragon. In 9:30 Guardian he was ousted by the Gray Wardens, and forced into exile. His prior identity was as Enchanter Alder, missing from the Starkhaven Circle Tower.

Ralden - Templar Knight from the Anderfels. (M/L)

Reed - a male human of Ferelden, in his twenties. During the summer of 9:30 Dragon, he became tainted with the Blight, and ran away from his people into the Bannorn (rather than face execution). Fate ... unknown. 

Reginald - male human Orlesian, and a Templar, under the command of Peyton. Defeated aboard the Mistral. 

Reyla - Chasind witch-woman and Gray Warden. Created the Screamcatcher using Dmitriv's eye.

Renald - one of Arl Howe's minions at White River Manor, in Amaranthine; Garrick would recognize him. 

Renneth - a Chantry cleric, probably a human male, in the early Storm Age. He had an interest in Celatus, and the Tearful Eye. 

Richard - Orlesian chevalier, part of the garrison at Edgehall. 

Riordan - human male, senior Gray Warden in Orlais. He sent some dragonlings as a gift to Duncan. Sent dozens of cream pies to the Last Party, later feigned surprise at the result.

Robert - Ferelden warrior, mercenary, and Gray Warden.  Conscripted by Cray who found Robert at the end of a long trail of "trouble his mouth and dick got him into." Missing, presumed dead at Ostagar.

Robert (2) - possibly a false name. A warrior, captain of the "tough" troops of bann Pyne Amril, of South Reach 

Roderick - Knight Captain of the Templars and Grey Warden. Recruited by, and traveling with, Sextus. Spirit imprisoned in an armored arm by Aurelinus.

Rogasha - a young female laidir found in a menagerie/circus in Montsimmard, freed and taken to Mythalvhenan by Bran's Bunch.

Roi - daughter of Ulrik and Valerie, sister of Daniella. A rogue, now a werewolf.

Rowan - Previous queen of Ferelden.

Queen Rowan was the daughter of Arl Rendorn Guerrin and the older sister of Arl Eamon Guerrin and Bann Teagan Guerrin. She fought together with Prince Maric Theirin against the Orlesian usurper, King Meghren. She eventually married Maric, becoming the Queen of Ferelden, and gave birth to King Cailan Theirin. She died of a wasting illness when Cailan was still young. She is described as having beautiful brown hair and gray eyes.

Rory - an male human Orlesian courier, presumably working with Deverick.

Roland - barkeep in a hilltop tavern in Redcliffe

Rosalie Rutherford - youngest daughter of bann Rutherford, sister to Cullen and Mia Rutherford

Knight Royce - male human Orlesian, and a Templar. He's tough, and the right-hand man to Knight-Lieutenant Peyton. 

Ryath - elven spirit mage, and secret rebel, in Arksmonten


S

Samesley - human male, blond, former Circle Mage, Gray Warden, in early 20s. Was apprenticed to Mirian. M.I.A. while investigating in Gwaren.

Samuel - human male warrior, part of the crew of The Great Wolf. Killed in battle with the Mistral.

Sal - dwarven surfacer and armorer, living in seclusion in the northern Bracilian Forest. Abducted and turned ghoul by darkspawn; killed by Jayce at his request.

Sara - human female warrior; daughter of a Templar, experienced and skilled as a cook. Carries a longsword, shield, mace, bow, and spice rack.[Dana]

Sextus - male elven Gray Warden, former Tevinter slave and Circle Tower mage. Scholar of the dark arts, blood mage, and combat mage. Friend of Boane, frenemy of Duncan. Currently Commander of the Grey in Ferelden (for what good that does)

Shivanna - female elven mage from Arksmonten, a member of the Filli Orcis. Joined the Wardens at Ostagar; she survived the battle and eventually is working with Sextus.

Sobrata - a mabari hound, recently working with the Wardens.

Sten - a Qunari warrior, condemned to death, and rescued by Anwen Cousland and Alistair.


T

Tam - Templar Knight Corporal from the Anderfels; large, red-haired, late 20s. Trusts authority. (M/L)

Tamaris - an elven female mage, seneschal of Arksmonten. 

Tarian Helwyr - female human Fereldan warrior. Lives in Honnleath; wife of Griff, mother of Gruffen, Bran and Linette. 

Terden - a Templar, part of Greer's group; slain by the Abomination Vren.

Teagan Guerrin - Bann of Rainesfere, and younger brother of Arl Eamon; age about 39. A skilled horseman and warrior. He and Eamon are the younger siblings of Queen Rowan, wife to King Maric; and thus he was uncle to King Cailin.

Terlithy - young Redcliffe villager/warrior. with shortsword and leather armor, was eager to see the world for a week then went home.

Tienan - an elven warrior, Gray Warden, and Eornan's cousin. Broke his pelvis in a fall below Hounds Hall in Denerim. Captured by the Architect's forces at Ostagar, is quickly turning ghoul.

Tiro - male elven mage, from Arksmonten; apprentice to Miles (in fact 'Tiro' means 'apprentice' in Old Korcarian). Died long ago, but the demon Imshael had taken his form recently. 

Torin ar Moldand - aka 'Torin Dragon Hide'; male Avvar thane of Whitelion Hold. His clan has been terrorizing the highest reaches of the Frostbacks for many years, enslaving many Avvar. He may also have captured Bran's sister, Linette.

Travis du Chalon - male human Orlesian, a capable aide-de-camp currently in service to Alpheus

Turpin - an Enchanter of the Fereldan Circle and the country's most skilled chirurgeon. Last seen at South Reach.


U

Ulrik Kirland - an apostate mage from Kirkwall in the Free Marches. Husband of Valerie, father of Daniella and six others, his body is presumably under a lot of rubble in the tunnels below the Temple of Mythal.

Valendrian -  male elf, hahren of the Denerim alienage.

Valerie - human female bard from Orlais, wife to Ulrik, mother to Daniella, more recently a Gray Warden and a werewolf.

Vren - a young male elf; an apprentice Circle mage. He escaped from the Tower with Nedlen, but was possessed by an Abomination and destroyed by the Templars under Knight-Corporal Gray and Bran's Bunch

Vera - a Korcarian apostate in her 50s, friend of Landon's family -- particularly Landon's father Wrale. Hiding in Arksmonten. 

Verell - spirit mage from Redcliff, one of 7 siblings of Daniella (2nd youngest older than Daniella). Chose to become the leader of the Laidir, the werewolf clan of the Brecilian forest.


 

Waldane - an very tough and well-equipped elvish warrior, in the Denerim Alienage. Formerly an associate of Dyeir. 

Ser Walter:  a knight from Redcliffe, and a "nerd" about lore and history, also a fan of Brother Genitivi's writings. 

Waye - female human bard, a Gray Warden, died 9:27. She had been in love with Alain.

Wesley Vallen - Templar Knight from Orlais. Black haired, narrow features. (M/L)

Wilhelm - human male alchemist, lived in Honnleath, died circa 9:5 in an accident 

Wynne - a spirit healer, and Senior Enchanter at Kinloch Hold.

Z

Zendel - a Knight-Corporal of the Templars. He was Martin's commander during the transport of phylacteries from the Tower to Denerim. (M/L)

Zoe - female male human Fereldan, and a Circle Mage (spirit healer specialization). Notable for her taunting and mean attitude towards apostates. Died 30 Bloomingtide 9:30 Dragon, in the Bannorn.

Zevran - an elvish assassin, formerly a member of the Antivan Crows. He was caught by the Wardens and became an ally of theirs.

Switching from Times New Roman to 'Normal' saved at least 12k in page size (it previously complained the page was over 50k, at 62k, and suggested splitting it - it no longer complains).
