Jesse Cooper equipment

Page history last edited by Kirk 5 years, 10 months ago

Encumbrance levels:

  • up to 18 kilograms:  unaffected - move 24 meters per round

  • 19 to 36 kilograms:  loaded - Dodge, Climb, Jump, Swim, and some other movement-related skills are halved; move is 18 meters per round.

  • 37 to 72 kilograms:  burdened - Dodge, Climb, Jump, Sneak, Throw, all melee attacks, all parries, and some others are halved; some skills may not be possible:  Swim without flotation aids, for example; move is 12 meters per round.

  • over 72 kilograms:  overloaded - Martial Arts, Sneak, Throw, all attacks and parries, and others are halved; Swim, Climb, Jump, Dodge, and others are not possible. Move is 3 meters per round.

If he carries his complete issued field gear and role kit, the load is 26.9 kilograms. For long hikes (add in the survival gear) he's carrying 38.14 kg; I'm pretty sure he can get that down under 36 kg with some judicious trimming ("I leave my spare coveralls behind" etc.).

In a likely "dismounted with field gear and role kit" situation, he might leave behind the bayonet, M7 bandoleer, canteen, mag pouch and 2 mags for the HP35 pistol, two of the frag grenades, and one of the HAFLA-35L; but take his derringer, for a carried weight of about 23 kg. If he only carried 5 magazines for the Stoner rifle, and only one frag grenade, no bayonet, bandoleer, etc., he could get the carried weight down to about 19 kg. A bit more squeezing of inventory would get the load down to less than 19 kg, and Jesse could march about "unaffected by encumbrance", with 150 rounds of rifle ammo, 26 rounds of pistol ammo, a frag grenade, a HAFLA-35L, and his derringer. Wearing the CVC vest, carrying lots of ammo and grenades, etc. will almost immediately put him back into the "loaded" encumbrance level.

I think a Ka-Bar (10.6 ounces) should be 0.3 kg, not 0.5 kg ... but you have a better opportunity to weigh one!

Kirk said

at 9:00 pm on May 14, 2013

Ka-Bar + scabbard is 12 oz, if you believe the food scale in our kitchen.

Michael said

at 9:02 pm on May 14, 2013

Well, 0.34 kg ... still close enough to 0.3. The weights I got were probably for the bare knife.

Michael said

at 10:05 pm on May 14, 2013

Or for one with an ultra-modern plastic grip and sheath.

Michael said

Kirk and I discussed Jesse's prophylactics pre-campaign, and he's been portrayed as having access to these.

Michael said

Jesse's Ka-Bar is now on the list!

Michael said

Added some mass values for personal effects, re-organized personal clothing a bit to emphasize how stylin' Jesse is!

Ah ha, I see what you're doing there!
