Defenders of Truth

Also known as the Brotherhood of Truth; presumably in Greek they're the Adelfótita tis Alítheias.

A martial order of cenobitic monks adhering to the Orthodox faith (as defined by the Synod of Constantinople in 879 AD), originally established in Antioch in 1108 AD following the Treaty of Devol. The order established a monastery in Constantinople following the Fourth Crusade (1202 - 1204 AD). The monastery in Constantinople became the sole chapter following the fall of Antioch in 1291, and still exists in modern Istanbul. They seem to have strange beliefs about souls and reincarnation. The fighting brethren (Gk. monachos, "monk") are distinct from the healers (Gk. hieromonachos, "holy monk") or scholars (Gk. presbyteros, "elder"), and seek to have their blades returned to their home chapter after their deaths.

Lennie was "recruited" by them; the "rock crystal bracelet" guys apparently hate them. They have strange apparatii that can be used to discover "taints". They have loose ties to The Eternal Light, the Order of St. Thomas and some other occult groups.

They received convert novices from the Brothers of the Sword (Latin: Fratres militiæ Christi Livoniae, German: Schwertbrüderorden, French: Ordre des Chevaliers Porte-Glaive) in 1236 after that order was decimated in the Battle of Schaulen (Saule). Alternative names of the Livonian order include Christ Knights, Swordbrothers, Sword Brethren, and The Militia of Christ of Livonia. The seal reads: +MAGISTRI ETFRM (et fratrum) MILICIE CRI (Christi) DE LIVONIA.
